Aiken has grown from a Winter Colony to a year round destination. The village has many fine golf communities, a superb park system and can offer equestrian facilities second to none. The Hitchcock woods, a 2000 acre preserve is used for riding, driving and seasonal fox hunting. There are facilities throughout the county for year round hunter and jumper shows, combined training events and dressage competitions. There are three training tracks for race horses and three polo fields within the city of Aiken and over thirty polo fields in the county.
